Hi Guys, I'm a big fan of Russell Peters and I am using his work for a dissertation for my Masters Degree. I'm collecting data on the use of comedy to reduce racial prejudice. If you would like to support academic research and improve comedy's credentials (not that it really needs improvement) please participate in this web survey. It'll take 15 minutes of your time. :) Much appreciated. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=8NpTHs8lmlYBorZdx9CYIw_3d_3d

many people are afraid to laugh at "racist" jokes, because they fear they themselves will be labled as a racist, but when a brown person uses racist jokes, the audience are unafraid of this, as the person they see themselves offending, is the person telling the jokes. it dosent quite work the same if its a white person though. i think that the "racist" aspect of comedy is a reletively unused one, wich is one of the reasons it works so well, its new and not often used. the "racist" comedy is one generaly reserved for... people who arent white. if its a brown person telling "racist" jokes, it bridges the gap from peoples inner thaughts and feelings, over the barrier of the stereo type of racism being a way of expresing anger and the judgement that follows, and brings it into a form of comedy that everyone can enjoy, black, white brown, or even irish. given the chance, i would like to read this dissertation once it is complete, and look forward to finding the conclusion of the paper. good luck with the degree, tapsumbong

Well, if Russell's going to tour Canada, he'd better watch out for the HRCs here. They decide what is funny, and if you piss someone off and "offend" them, then you're screwed. See here: http://ezralevant.com/2008/06/did-you-hear-the-one-about-the.htmlHe better plan his jokes carefully: http://ezralevant.com/2008/06/a-readers-response.html
